Cartography and Informational Systems

The department of cartography and informational systems was found in 1996. The department's objective is implementation of high technologies in the domain of map material processing, digital maps creation and conversion of cartographical information in digital form. For products creation the department uses ESRI ArcInfo software, Easy Trase (vectorizer), MapInfo (desk geographical informational system -GIS), CredoTopoplan (program for 1:500 to 1:25 000 scale maps and plans creation). Since the department establishment there were created:

  • digital map of Chisinau on the basis of 1:2000 scale topographical plans, updatable with the use of satellite images and other data sources;
  • on the basis of digital map of Chisinau the 1:10000 and 1:12500 scale plans of Chisinau and tourist map of the capital were edited;
  • the 1:200000 scale topographical map of the Republic of Moldova has been digitalized;
  • 1:400000 scale map of new administrative-territorial division of Republic of Moldova, tourist map;
  • the department collaborates in implementation of EuroGeographics projects on creation of European maps of different scale and destination.

The department offers the following services:

  • creation and updating cartographical production of different destination using cartographical material, space and aerial survey data and modern technologies;
  • elaboration of mathematical basis, contents and design of maps on different scales and of different types;
  • compilation, updating, preparation for edition, copying maps in graphical and digital forms;
  • creation and updating cadastral maps;
  • production of advertisement and information editions using cartographic basis;
  • development of GIS with different destination;
  • scanning and processing black&white and colour plans and maps(400-600 dpi);
  • 3D digital landscape models creation;
  • black&white and colour jet plotting (formats from A3 to A0).
